Brand Authority
Brand Authority measures how well-known and trusted your brand is across the internet — independent of your own website. AI shopping assistants use these signals to decide which brands are credible enough to recommend.
What goes into this
- Domain age and authority — older, well-established domains get more trust from AI
- Branded search volume — how many people search for your brand by name
- Wikipedia presence — whether your brand has a Wikipedia page (a strong trust signal)
- News mentions — how often your brand appears in news coverage
- Social media presence — mentions and sentiment on Reddit, X, and other platforms
Why it matters
When a shopper asks an AI assistant "what's the best X?", the AI weighs brand authority heavily. A brand that's widely discussed and positively mentioned online is far more likely to be recommended than one with a great website but no external presence.
What you can do
Brand authority is built over time, but you can accelerate it by investing in PR, encouraging organic social discussion, building partnerships that generate backlinks, and ensuring your brand appears in industry directories and review sites.
