What are Open Graph & Twitter Card Tags?
Open Graph (og:) and Twitter Card tags are meta tags that control how your product pages appear when shared on social platforms, messaging apps, and increasingly in AI-generated content. They define the title, description, and image that represent your product.
Why it matters
- AI systems use OG tags as a reliable source of product titles, descriptions, and images
- Social sharing displays rich previews that drive traffic back to your store
- Messaging apps show product cards when links are shared in conversations
- Consistent representation across every platform builds brand recognition and trust
What to do
Add og:title, og:description, og:image, and og:url tags to every product page. Include og:type set to "product" for product pages. Add Twitter Card tags (twitter:card, twitter:title, twitter:description, twitter:image) as well. Use high-quality product images with a minimum resolution of 1200x630 pixels.
