Amazon gives sellers ongoing AI workflows with approval controls

Amazon announced new Seller Assistant workflows on September 23, 2026, allowing sellers to monitor their businesses and prepare responses to changing conditions even while logged out. The update also introduces a selling partner plugin for Amazon Quick and Anthropic’s Claude.

Amazon describes the plugin as a beta for sellers in its U.S. stores. For workflows, sellers can choose recommendations or actions; the company says actions are reviewed and approved before execution and recorded in an audit trail. Those controls deserve as much attention as the proposed time savings.

A practical first use is a small group of products with a recurring operational problem. Consider a seller who regularly checks whether a promoted backpack has enough inventory. Begin with a workflow that flags the affected item and proposes a response. Before allowing a change, check the exact variant, current stock and any inbound shipment the team already knows about.

The proposal should make the commercial choice clear. Reducing promotion, changing a listing and placing a replenishment order carry different costs. Assign a person who can judge the proposed response against supplier lead times and the campaign plan. Keep the initial product group narrow enough that the owner can inspect each result.

For a pricing workflow, write down the products it covers and the conditions under which a proposed change is acceptable. Review a sample proposal against the current offer, fees and margin requirements. Then check that the recorded result matches the approved change. An attractive recommendation is useful only if the right item was changed in the intended way.

Evaluate the pilot on completed work: whether a real stock or pricing issue was caught, how much review it required, and whether the final listing or inventory decision was correct. A seller-side workflow improves operations when the team can verify those outcomes. Product recommendations shown to shoppers remain a separate question.

The product-page guide offers checks for the customer-facing information affected by listing changes.
