AI visibility results help you understand whether buyers encounter your brand, how it is presented and which sources support the answer. Read those signals together, then open the underlying responses to see what a buyer would actually learn.
Look at presence, prominence and evidence
Signal | What it helps you understand | What to check in the answer |
|---|---|---|
Presence | Whether your brand appears for the questions you track | Is the brand recommended, compared with another option or mentioned in passing? |
Position | How prominently your brand appears in a recommendation | Does the answer lead with your product, place it among alternatives or mention it as a caveat? |
Citations | Which linked sources the assistant presents as evidence | Does the cited page support the claim about the correct product? |
Recommendation quality | Whether the suggestion fits the buyer’s request | Are budget, compatibility, availability and other constraints addressed accurately? |
Frequent mentions are useful only in context. An assistant may name your brand while recommending a competitor. It may also recommend your product using an outdated specification. The full answer shows which problem needs attention.
Start with the buyer question
Separate questions that already name your brand from questions that ask for a product or solution. “What is Example Maker’s return policy?” tests information about a known brand. “Which carry-on fits under this airline’s seat?” tests discovery and suitability. Strong results on the first question do not establish coverage of the second.
Focus on questions that represent actual purchase decisions. Include the constraints customers raise in support conversations, product reviews and sales discussions. The prompt-set guide provides examples for different buyer needs.
Turn the result into a specific action
What you observe | What to inspect | A useful next step |
|---|---|---|
Your brand rarely appears for a relevant need | The alternatives recommended and the evidence used to support them | Check whether your pages clearly answer that need with verifiable product facts |
Your product appears with an incorrect claim | The passage, cited page and exact product variant | Correct information you control and request a factual correction on independent pages |
Your brand appears but does not fit the request | The buyer’s budget, dimensions, compatibility or other constraints | Clarify suitability and limitations so buyers can choose the right product |
A competitor is supported by stronger evidence | The comparison, review or specification the answer relies on | Develop useful evidence for unanswered buyer questions |
Buyers reach the site but struggle to purchase | The landing page, selected variant, availability and checkout | Fix the purchase obstacle and verify the complete journey |
Read a recommendation as a buyer would
Consider an illustrative request for a bottle that fits a 7 cm cup holder. An answer that names your bottle but omits its base diameter leaves the buyer unable to verify fit. An answer that cites the correct measurement and links to an available variant is more useful.
The action is to confirm the measurement and make it clear on the product page and relevant product data. Then check whether subsequent answers represent that fact accurately. A more prominent mention alone would not resolve the buyer’s question.
Compare changes in context
Use the same buyer questions, assistants and relevant settings when comparing periods. Check whether enough recent answers are available to understand a pattern. A missing result is a reason to investigate the available evidence before drawing a conclusion.
Read examples from both periods and note product launches, stock changes or page edits that could affect the result. One changed answer is a useful lead; repeated observations give you a better basis for deciding where to invest. The weekly review guide explains what to look for.
Choose a buyer outcome
Define the improvement in concrete terms: an accurate specification, a suitable recommendation, a working product link or a completed purchase. Check that the correction is live, then review later answers and relevant business outcomes.
Use the product-page guide to improve missing facts and the citation guide to act on source evidence. Keep visits and orders alongside visibility when assessing business impact; each answers a different question.
